How Direct Debit Works/Frequently Asked Questions
What is direct debit?
Direct debit is a secure electronic transfer of an authorized payment from your checking or savings account into Liberty Bible Church’s account. Direct debit may also be referred to as electronic funds transfer (EFT), Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfer, direct payment, automatic bill payment, automatic debit and electronic payment.
Why Should I give using Direct Debit?
Making payments with Direct Debit makes your life easier. By signing up for the service, you can let things happen automatically and electronically. If you miss a week of physically worshiping with us, your worshipful act of giving will still occur. It is easier on the environment since there is no need to write checks. It is also easier to track payments since Liberty Bible Church’s name will appear on your bank statement or financial software. The church in turn benefits from much-needed donation consistency and a reduction in the volume of check and cash contributions that must be handled and manually processed in the church office.
How Do I Authorize Payment?
You authorize Liberty Bible Church to debit payments from your checking or savings accounts. This is done in writing using an authorization form (click here). You choose the frequency of your payments as well as the “fund” into which you desire your payment to be made.
Complete the registration form (click here)
and either mail it to Liberty Bible Church (824 N Calumet Ave., Chesterton IN 46304) or drop it in the “drop box” on the counters near the church office door.
On what date will the payment be deducted from my account?
Payments will be deducted on the date originally authorized unless that date is a Saturday, Sunday or Federal holiday, in which case it will be deducted on the first business day following that date.
Is giving by Direct Debit risky?
It is certainly less risky than writing checks or carrying cash to church. Your electronic donation is processed using Vanco Services, LLC - an established and highly-regarded company that moves funds directly from church members to the church on the same day without any delay. Vanco processes contributions for more than 10,000 churches and nonprofit organizations.
What if I try Direct Debit giving and don't like it?
You are in complete control of your online contribution schedule and can alter or cancel it at any time by using the same Authorization Form (click here) that you used to set up Direct Debit.
How much does Direct Debit giving cost?
It costs you nothing and it costs the church 20 cents per transaction. It is the lowest cost method of transferring funds.
Without a canceled check, how can I prove I made my contribution?
Liberty Bible Church will continue to send you the same contributions statements you received when placed your cash or check into the offering plate using your giving envelope.
What if I change bank accounts?
Complete a new Authorization Form (click here) and check the box “Change Banking Information.”
